Mottaki: Zionist regime will not acheive goals

Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from Norway and the Netherlands said the Zionist regime will not acheive its goals in Gaza.


According to a Foreign Ministry Media Department report on Monday, Mottaki elabored the Zionist regime and its supporters' goals in that usuper regime's recent invasion in Gaza, calling it similar to their attack against Lebanon in 2006, adding that the leaders of the regime will not acheive their goals.

He added that the Zionists in their blind air raids will only kill resident of Gaza while the international organizations and supporters of them should answer for their silence and lack of action for such killings.

Iran's foreign minister underlined the necessity of an immediate cease to military operation of the Zionists, the removing of the siege of Gaza, the opening of Gaza crossings for delivering humanitarian aids for people, especially for the sake of the wounded.

The Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store, for his part, expressed serious concerns over the massacre of the innocent people, said that the ongoing vast military operation is unacceptable and added that Norway has its own independent stance on Gaza and respect the people's elected government of Palestine as legitimate.

He said that our medical teams are stationed in Gaza in spite of the difficult situation, adding, "We believe a cease-fire should be declared in the area."

The Netherlands Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen in a separate talk appreciated Tehran's efforts in this concern and said that the Netherlands also wants a serious facilitation for aid operation aimed at stopping military operation and the killing of the innocent people.

Underlining the need for the continuation of consultations, he added, "The European Union by dispatching delegations to the region is trying to end the conflict and we are interested that by Iran's help, which has a high influence among the Palestinians and Hamas, we would achieve this objective."
