Sept 20th: Stand with Us against Tuff Shedauthor: Seattle Solidarity Network Stand with workers against corporate abuse at Tuff Shed.
Tomania Dunlop, a construction worker who's been active with the Seattle Solidarity Network, recently had a serious on-the-job injury while putting up a shed for Tuff Shed Inc. Her weight came down on her leg at a bad angle, it tore her cartilage, and she collapsed. She couldn't walk and had to be taken to the hospital. She called to tell her boss she'd had a bad injury and wouldn't be able to work, and hospital staff informed the company that a Workers' Compensation claim was being filed. A few days later, Tuff Shed fired her.

I worked for a workers' comp attorney for nearly four years and I've seen the outrageous lies that employees tell to keep their injured workers from receiving proper medical treatment and compensation. And the laws are set up in their favor. The only way we can fight back is to FIGHT BACK. The reason we have workers' comp in the first place is because workers in Germany 100 years ago took to the streets and demanded that employers pay when workers get injured. Prior to that, if you got injured, you were on your own. If you got your arm caught in a machine and had it torn off, too bad, so long. Sound familiar? We need to start telling each other and ourselves that WE make the profits so WE should get a bigger share. WE make society run and WE should get free universal health care.
