Olympia City Council Member's Business Smashed

GROUP

In the last hours of May Day, March the 1st, we smashed out two of the windows of Alpine Experience, a business in Downtown Olympia. This business is owned by the fat, disgusting slug known as Joe Hyer, City Council member and general capitalist parasite. We also left a message for him and his cronies on the side wall.

Joe Hyer recently changed his mind regarding the Sanctuary City proposal, a proposal he was 'considering' supporting. It is a horrible state of affairs when creeps like Hyer can be in charge of the fates of peoples lives and safety. All it took for him to change his mind was the attacking of two multi-billion dollar banks earlier in the day. Obviously he did not care at all about the proposal or the fates of economic refugees and no one should suck up to a fat worm like him. These banks which he felt so connected to were not local businesses. US Bank and B of A are everywhere.

Inspired by the attacks on these banks, we decided to pay his Alpine Experience a visit. Hyer, as well as the rest of the City Council and the Mayor, are gearing up to gentrify our town. A noise ordinance is in the works, as well as an already green-lighted development plan which includes million dollar condos on the waterfront. Hyer and the City Council are not our friends. They cannot help us. They mean to destroy our community and destroy all diversity. We cannot befriend people who wish to see us gone.

Know this, Joe and Company...we will sabotage all of your efforts every step of the way. You will not get away with what you mean to do. The reason the 'non-violent' protesters helped the 'violent' protesters is because everyone there knew who they hated and who they did not. You, the Council, and the OPD have no place in Olympia. Neither does the Mayor. In fact, the City of Olympia has no place in Olympia. Olympia is ours. And you cannot have it.

This action was done in solidarity with everyone who falsely placed their hopes in the Council and reform.

This action was done in solidarity with the hostages still being held in Thurston County Jail.

Please repost and spread this to any and all Olympia-area venues. Help us.

Creating divisions, Hurting Peace and Justice

No. No to your group's violence.

Olympia does not want this violence.

Olympia wants a broad-based, inclusive and participatory set of peace and justice, and anti-war movements.

This rock-throwing, "smashing" things, hostile and violent behavior is only serving to scare people, to turn people off to the movement.

Please digest these words from Noam Chomsky:

Noam Chomsky pointed out in his 1985
book "Turning the Tide":

He wrote extensively about the importance of direct action in
confronting institutional violence when a large sector of the public was
sufficiently educated. He also included this important warning: "IN
CONTRAST, WITHOUT A BACKGROUND OF POPULAR UNDERSTANDING, IT MAY BE ONLY
A FORM OF SELF-INDULGENT AND POSSIBLY QUITE HARMFUL ADVENTURISM"

Please realize that, for however well-meaning your group purports to be, you are hurting the Cause of Peace and Justice.

Not in my name

You don't represent me. Not in my name.

I guess you are frustrated but ask yourself if actions and statements such as these are gonna get the results you are truly after.

Please reconsider your message and actions. You may actually be hurting the movement you intend to support.

why would I?

Why would I come close to supporting someone who resorts to name-calling to get their point across? Your methods are as juvenile as your vocabulary. You might find that your ideology is actually identical to many in our city (including myself), but your actions will only alienate the cause and make it more difficult to accomplish the mission. Please hurry and grow up before you cause MY city more embarrassment and grief.

Fuck Off

I happen to think Hyer is an idiot but to trash his business is out of bounds. You are not going to start the Revolution by threatening and elected representative. How about doing the hard work of defeating him in an election, not trying to intimidate him. Your tactics smack of fascism. Go to hell.

no strategy

Kingsbury's business was also tagged...prior to this Kingsbury was still publicly in support of the resolution, even after the May Day events...I have no problem with property destruction but this was done with out strategy. The proposal only needed one person, one member of the council to move it along to the next step. The proposal has probably now lost that one person.

Hyer and Kingsbury suck

I don't think vandalism is strategically sound, but I can totally understand the rage toward Kingsbury and Hyer. They think they can just "clean up downtown" and none of the people being cleaned up will fight back? They think everyone will just believe their PR bullshit? Our City Council is a rich man's tool, and for them to act like wronged innocents is ridiculous.
