When is Saddam not Saddam?

The New York Times reports that the Senate Intelligence study of prewar intelligence about Iraq

will not only confirm that dire warnings about illicit weapons were largely unfounded and that

ties to al Qaeda were tenuous but that "Saddam Hussein's army posed little threat to regional

stability and American interests". In spite of what we

have been told by the administration, moreover, the resistance to our presence is not primarily

from al Qaeda terrorists but from Sunni Iraqis who are angry about losing power in the wake of

the fall of Saddam Hussein.

According to The Associated Press, indigenous guerrillas "can call on loyalists to boost their

forces to as high as 20,000 and have enough popular support among nationalist Iraqis angered by

the presence of US troops that they cannot be militarily defeated". Although the administration

actively denies parallels with Vietnam, the analogies are becoming stronger and stronger. We are

bogged down in a distant land that posed no threat to our security where the population regards

us as invaders, not as liberators, and where military victory appears to be impossible.

The administration persists in proclaiming that we are safer, stronger, and better for

having taken out a ruthless dictator. Yet the fellow we have selected to replace him,

Iyad Allawi, appears to be a facsimile of the fallen leader. Precisely how he became

Iraq's interim Prime Minister remains mysterious, but also he places a premium on

security over democracy and has threatened to place Iraq under martial law, to shut down the

media, and delay elections. He has been described as "brutal", "ruthless",

and "tough", a suitable replacement for Saddam, perhaps, but not a fellow likely to become the

George Washington of his country.

Those who continue to resist the manifest failure of this administration's policies in the Middle

East may want to consider the latest development, which has yet to make

the national news. No doubt, our greatest success in this miserable intervention has been the

capture of Saddam Hussein himself. But there is now evidence that the man whom we captured

is not Saddam Hussein but one of his doubles. If this is the case--and the evidence is

compelling--then this may be the biggest lie to come out of Iraq from an administration that

specializes in falsehoods.

On 18 June 2004, an independent Australian journalist, Joe Vialls, reported that the International

Red Cross has been insisting that the captive Saddam Hussein should be turned over to Iraqi

authorities. Oddly, American authorities decided that this man should be legally transferred to

Iraq but kept under American military control. This

peculiar arrangement appears to be motivated by the knowledge that the Saddam in

custody is not Saddam Hussein but one of his doubles, a matter that would not escape Iraqis were

they to be given access to his person.

Indeed, under pressure from Russia, the US reluctantly allowed Saddam's wife, Sajida

Heiralla Tuffah, access to her husband in Qatar. According to Vialls, "Sajida arrived from Syrian

with her official escort, Sheikh Hamad Al-Tani, and then entered the

prison, emerging only moments later pink with rage and shouting, 'This is not my husband but

his double. Where is my husband? Take me to my husband." She was given the unconvincing

explanation that he had changed a lot in custody, which she

did not accept, insisting she would know her own husband. (The article is available

On 7 July 2004, Vialls presented evidence to substantiate his claim that the captured

Saddam is not Saddam Hussein, which was based upon differences in their teeth and

jaw. Photographs of the captured Saddam display rather ragged and unkempt lower

front teeth, while photographs of Saddam Hussein display quite beautiful, uniform lower teeth.

Moreover, the captured Saddam has an underbite (where his lower teeth extend beyond his upper

teeth), while Saddam Hussein has an overbite (where his upper teeth extend beyond his lower

Here are two of the photographs presented in Vialls' report. The one on the left is the captured

Saddam, the one on the right is Saddam Hussein. They are not the same.

Curious as to whether he might be right, I performed my own search using google and

NEWSWEEK (12 July 2004), which just happened to include a set of several photos of the

captured Saddam, including some that display his ragged and unkempt lower teeth. What I

needed in addition were photographs that the US government itself has offered as photographs of

Saddam Hussein. I found what I was looking for in an on-line piece entitled, "Saddam Hussein

al-Tikriti", which may be located at the following web site:

What I liked about this source is that it not only includes a series of photographs of

Saddam Hussein but a sequence in which his original appearance has been altered to

reflect how it might have changed during the period he was attempting to evade his capture. This

series was issued to Coalition troops in Iraq on 31 July 2003 in order to "better help them

recognize the wanted former Iraqi leader" by CENTCOM, the Central Command. The beautiful

lower teeth and slight overbite are clearly evident in these photographs from impeccable United

States sources. Here is a comparison of one of NEWSWEEK's photos with one from

CENTCOM:

Some lies are bigger than others. The deceit and deception that motivated the United States

Congress into supporting armed intervention in Iraq included phony reports about weapons of

mass destruction, chemical and biological capabilities, and attempts to acquire the ingredients

that are required to construct nuclear bombs. One might have thought at least that lying to the

American people about the capture of Saddam Hussein would be beneath our government.

Free republics are not known to have long life expectancies. At the ripe old age of two hundred and thirty-one, America is definitely showing her age. She is long past her prime, and some are predicting her demise. No, some are PLANNING her demise.

Thomas Jefferson and the other founders of this once-great country believed there was a controlling cabal that was crafting America's servitude. With the assistance of Heaven, they decided to fight those forces. Pastors fought with fiery sermons from the pulpit; newsmen fought with the power of the pen; statesmen fought in the halls of congress; and merchants fought with the sacrifice of their material gain. Together, they lifted Lady Liberty to her feet and defeated the powers of darkness.

It took the global elite a long time to recover, but they have reemerged with a vengeance. They are now on the precipice of accomplishing what their great granddaddies failed to do: bring the rebellious colonists under their power and control.

You see, we no longer have the will to resist servitude. Our pulpits are too busy preaching a prosperity gospel; newsmen are in bed with the forces they once disdained; statesmen have been replaced with opportunistic, self-serving politicians; and merchants know no god but money. Hence, it is left to a small -- and I mean very small -- remnant to sound the clarion call for freedom and independence. Unfortunately, few seem to be listening to their cries.

2010 seems to be a banner year for these designers of despotism. That is the target year for the implementation of the North American Community, which will unite the United States with Canada and Mexico. The global elite suffered a minor set-back when the U.S. Senate failed to pass the Bush/McCain/Kennedy/Graham amnesty-for-illegal-aliens bill. But if you think that George W. Bush is going to let that bill lie on the floor of defeat, you don't understand these people. President Bush will do everything he can to implement some kind of amnesty law before he leaves office. I would not be surprised if he attempted some sort of Executive Order or Presidential Directive in order to accomplish it. You see, it is absolutely essential to the designers of despotism that our southern border be eliminated. Absolutely essential.

Yes, I am saying it: George W. Bush is part of the global elite that seeks America's entrance into an international New World Order. In fact, all of the "top tier" presidential candidates from both major parties will offer zero resistance to this obstinate oligarchy. That is why it will not matter to a hoot in Hades if it is Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Giuliani, Romney, Gingrich, or Thompson who is elected. (Forget McCain; his presidential goose is cooked.)

About the only presidential contenders who seem to have a spirit of resistance to these scheming scoundrels are men such as Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter, and Tom Tancredo. Forgive me for saying it, but while Mike Huckabee and Sam Brownback seem to be nice guys and may not be directly involved in this collection of crafty clowns, they appear to be either too naïve to understand their subterfuge or too weak to oppose it. The result is the same either way.

There are men who do seem to know what is going on and would have the chutzpah to throw the globalist goons back across the ocean (or better yet, under it). I'm talking about men such as Judge Roy Moore, Jerome Corsi, and Alan Keyes. However, the media and political elite in Washington, D.C. and New York will see to it that these men are never given the spotlight of public attention.

Perhaps one day the American people will wake up and realize that they are being led as sheep to the slaughter. I'm just not sure that it will be soon enough, however. 2010 is just around the corner.

There seems to be only one obstacle standing in the way of the globalists: America's citizens are the most heavily-armed citizens in the world. That fact must surely stick in the throats of the globalists like a chicken bone.

Thank God that America's founders put the Second Amendment in the Constitution. Without America's deep-rooted commitment to the right of the people to keep and bear arms we would have been sold into slavery decades ago.

Without the intellectual understanding of the principles of freedom and the moral resolve to maintain those principles, however, guns, by themselves, will only protect us for so long. In the end, our strength and protection come from God, and not too many people these days seem to be interested in His opinion.

Lady Liberty is walking very gingerly these days, and the path she treads is laden with traps and quicksand. The globalists have their hand-picked puppets positioned to take the reins from Dubya, and the pieces of the puzzle are almost all in place. 2010 just might be the year that Lady Liberty lowers her torch, folds her arms, and falls fast asleep.

As for me and my house, we promise to never fit in with Bush's New World Order. I don't know what that means exactly, but it is a promise."

The U.S. Army is authorized to create civilian prison labor camps on military installations, according to a little-noticed regulation.

The camps are allowed if the request comes from the Federal Bureau of Prisons or state corrections facilities under leasing requirements defined by federal law.

WND's discovery of the regulation comes shortly after Bush administration directives expanding presidential powers during an emergency.

The Army prison camp policy is defined in Army Regulation 210-35, entitled "Installations: Civilian Inmate Labor Camps," signed Feb. 14, 2005, by Sandra R. Riley, then-administrative assistant to the secretary of the Army.

The regulation revises an earlier civilian inmate labor camp regulation signed Dec. 9, 1997, under the Clinton administration.

Ned Christensen, spokesman for the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, confirmed to WND the 2005 version of Army Regulation 210-35 is currently valid and fully operative.

The regulation specifies "the Army's primary purpose for allowing establishment of prison camps on Army installations is to use the resident nonviolent civilian inmate labor pool to work on the leased portions of the installation."

The regulations specify Army personnel running the prison camps will prepare an "Inmate Labor Plan" that will comply with 18 U.S.C. 4125(a), governing civilian inmate labor.

That section of the U.S. Code allows the U.S. attorney general to make available to the heads of U.S. departments, including the Army, the services of U.S. prisoners to engage in labor, including "constructing or repairing roads, cleaning, maintaining and reforesting public lands, building levees and constructing or repairing any other public ways or works financed wholly or in major part by funds appropriated by Congress."

The regulation currently limits the Army's Civilian Inmate Labor Program "to using inmates from facilities under the control of the Federal Bureau of Prisons," noting the bureau "provides civilian inmate labor free of charge to the Army."

The regulation specifies that a benefit of the program to the Army is "providing a source of labor at no direct cost to Army installations to accomplish tasks that would not be possible otherwise due to the manning and funding constraints under which the Army operates."

By ERIC LICHTBLAU Published: August 31, 2007 WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 -- The Bush administration is signaling that it plans to turn again to a legal tool, the "state secrets" privilege, to try to stop a suit against a Belgian banking cooperative that secretly supplied millions of private financial records to the United States government, court documents show.

Skip to next paragraph Threats & Responses Go to Complete Coverage » The suit against the consortium, known as Swift, threatens to disrupt the operations of a vital national security program and to disclose "highly classified information" if it continues, the Justice Department has said in court filings.

A hearing on the suit is scheduled for Friday in federal court in Alexandria, Va.

The "state secrets" privilege, allowing the government to shut down litigation on national security grounds, was once rarely used. The Bush administration has turned to it more than 30 times in terrorism-related cases, seeking to end public discussion of cases like the claims of an F.B.I. whistle-blower and the abduction of a German terrorism suspect.

Most notably, the administration has sought to use the privilege to kill numerous suits against telecommunications carriers over the National Security Agency's eavesdropping program.

But a judge in California rejected the argument because the program had been discussed so widely. The government challenge is pending before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where judges at a hearing two weeks ago expressed skepticism on the secrecy argument.

Asserting the privilege requires the director of national intelligence and the attorney general to certify legally the potential harm to national security.

If the administration makes good on its intention to invoke the privilege in the Swift suit, it would be one of the most significant tests of the privilege.

Swift is considered the nerve center of the global banking industry, routing trillions of dollars each day among banks, brokerage houses and other financial institutions. Its partnership with Washington, reported in The New York Times in June 2006, gave Central Intelligence Agency and Treasury Department officials access to millions of records on international banking transactions.

The access was part of an effort to trace money that investigators believed might be linked to financing of terrorism.

Months after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Swift began turning over large chunks of its database in response to a series of unusually broad subpoenas from the Treasury Department.

Administration officials have defended the program as an important tool in the war on terror. European banking regulators and privacy advocates were quick to denounce the program as improper and possibly illegal.

The pressure resulted in an agreement this year by Swift and United States officials to tighten restrictions for using the data.

Two American banking customers also sued Swift on invasion-of-privacy grounds. Legal and financial analysts had expected that the suit would have been thrown out because American banking privacy laws are considered much laxer than those in much of Europe.

But the chief judge in Federal District Court in Chicago, James F. Holderman, ruled in June that he would allow the suit to proceed, partly on grounds of claims of a Fourth Amendment violation and his finding that Swift's arguments on that point were "unpersuasive."

"The decision in Chicago was a pretty big win for our side," Steven E. Schwarz, a lawyer in Chicago who represents the plaintiffs, said in an interview.

The Swift program, Mr. Schwarz said, "is an Orwellian example of government overreaching and unfettered access to private financial information that is not consistent with the values upon which our country was founded."

Judge Holderman did agree to move the suit to the federal court in Alexandria at the request of Swift lawyers. Its main American arm operates from Manassas, Va.

The hearing on Friday is on a motion by Swift for Judge T. S. Ellis to reconsider Judge Holderman's ruling.

In a motion filed on July 25, the Justice Department urged the court to throw out the suit to "preserve" the program against financing terrorism, "protect Swift from the burden of further litigation here and minimize the likelihood that highly classified information will be threatened."

The department said this week that it would send a lawyer to the hearing, but it was unclear whether the "state secrets" privilege would be raised.

Lawyers for the Justice Department and Swift would not discuss the case in substance beyond the court filings.

The administration has turned to the privilege much more frequently than past administrations. According to a report due out this weekend by an advocacy group, OpenTheGovernment.org, the administration has used it 39 times in the last six years, compared with 59 times in the 24 years before that.

Historically, courts have been reluctant to challenge the secrecy privilege. But the administration has suffered setbacks in seeking to use the secrecy claim in the eavesdropping case and several other recent cases.

"We've seen a real erosion of the ‘state secrets' privilege in the last year," said Mr. Schwarz, the lawyer suing Swift. "I think it is from overuse. We've seen it used in record numbers, in situations where it was inappropriate, and the courts are starting to recognize that."

Tom Blanton, director of the National Security Archive at George Washington University, said: "What seems clear is that until a year or two ago, the judges rarely even questioned it when the government raised the ‘state secrets' claim. It was a neutron bomb -- no plaintiffs left standing.

"But we're now seeing that judges are starting to actually look behind the government's secrecy claims and see what's really there."

Millions of words have been written about the attacks on 9-11. There are hundreds of web sites claiming to have the truth about that awful day. The majority seem to be filled with screeching - meaning all the words are in caps and too many shrilly declare "It's the Jews," followed by no less than 20 exclamation points.

The cause of truth is never served by these types of web sites. Quite simply, they are a "turn off" for those of us seeking facts instead of redundant and vituperative thrashings. The Masters of the Game orchestrating global events are the Russian, Chinese and U.S. Communitarian Ruling Classes in pursuit of world domination and to establish communism world wide. People need to separate the bigotry from well documented facts. There are some thoughtful, well presented web sites that have brought forward important, credible facts about that fateful day, i.e. www.fromthewilderness.com

Since 9-11, so many decent, sincere Americans have been trying to sort through the lies, disinformation and outright blarney in an attempt to get answers that our Republic, survivors and families of those murdered that day absolutely deserve. Catherine Austin Fitts, Former Assistant Secretary of Housing under Bush I, recently wrote Condelezza Rice a scathing letter in which Ms. Fitts points out glaring lies regarding Ms. Rice's sworn testimony April 8, 2004 before the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States. Ms. Fitts has no personal or political agenda. She wants what we all want: the truth and to never see another 9-11 on U.S. soil.

Another dedicated and fearless researcher/activist is Patrick Briley. I first came in contact with Pat soon after the slaughter in OKC on April 19, 1995. I found Pat to be intelligent, sincere and dedicated to finding out the truth about who planned and executed the murder of 168 Americans in OKC. His intense research has connected OKC and 9-11 in an understandable manner. Furthermore, this fine man has no political agenda whatsoever. He seeks only the truth and prevention of any more acts of terror on U.S. soil.

For the sake of a little background, Pat has a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering with graduate level course work in nuclear engineering from Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois and the Bettis Atomic Power Lab Nuclear Reactor engineering school near Pittsburgh. He was a staff project engineer for Admiral Rickover at Naval Reactors near DC for the design and construction of the nuclear power plant for the Trident (Ohio class) ballistic missile submarine. Additionally, Pat worked with a former Pentagon terrorism advisor and briefed legal counsels for committees of the Senate Judiciary and Senate Intelligence committees on the OKC bombing. He has personally discussed his findings on OKC and 9/11 with the assistant Chief of Staff for the Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, as well as a member of the 9/11 Commission staff, Mr. John Roth.

Pat's father worked for Army intelligence and the IG (Inspector General) of the Army. He was in the first graduating class of the OK state Highway patrol and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. His grandparents belonged to the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution; Pat is related to Presidents Polk, Lincoln, Jefferson and Washington.

Pat Briley is not some arm chair conspiracy quarterback. Pat hasn't just written letters, he has had extraordinary contact with key players in both the OKC cover-up and the 9-11 investigations. He has dedicated his life to finding all the pieces to the puzzle in order to see those responsible for these heinous acts are punished under the full extent of the law. According to Pat, "My wife was told on the morning of the OKC bombing by the wives of two prominent OKC FBI agents (Dan Vogel and John Hersley) that the FBI expected the OKC bombing and that FBI agents were told to stay out of the Murrah building on April 19, 1995 even though 3-4 FBI agents were normally at the building at 9 am sharp and sometimes dropped off children at the Day Care center there, near the time the OKC bombing actually occurred, 9:01-9:02 am. My wife has been threatened with loss of employment several times over a seven year period if she were to go public with her story by several people directly connected to the FBI and we have been told that the FBI agents wives lied to the FBI about what they had told my wife in order to protect their husbands careers. I became involved in the OKC bombing investigation as a result of the bad treatment given my wife over a 7 year period."

Pat recently contacted me about his work on 9-11 and connections to OKC. As I have a great deal of respect for this man, I listened and was greatly disturbed by what his research has uncovered. The single reason Pat contacted me was to solicit my assistance in seeing his research gets wide distribution in an effort to save lives. We are both of the opinion that it's just a matter of time before there will be multiple attacks on soft targets within these united States of America.

As the findings on 9-11 from serious researchers is beginning to resemble a giant mountain, I asked Pat if he could provide me with something manageable that would drive home the point to the American people that there was enough warning that this government could have prevented the attacks, what warnings they ignored and the considerable danger still within our borders.

I have been provided with the proof that Hastert's office received and discussed this report.

It is imperative to get this information to local law enforcement, family friends and colleagues. The FBI knows where these sleeper terrorist cells are operating in these united States, but there is no guarantee they will move to stop them before they strike again as evidenced by the FBI's refusal to act prior to 9-11.

As has been pointed out in previous articles by this writer, there is far more to 9-11 than just religious hatred. One has to look behind the horse and pony show being paraded in front of the American people. Law enforcement from our rural towns to the large metropolitan cities must be made aware of this factual information and the only way they're going to get it is for you to make it available to them whether individually or as a group. If you can't do it personally, print out this pdf file, compose a short, precise cover letter and send it to your county Sheriff and members of your state legislature.

We need to get this done because no one knows exactly where we will be hit next, it's just a matter of when. Everyone, including law enforcement should have as much background information on this cover up as possible. Don't presume your city or town is safe. Less than one month after 9-11, I discovered quite accidentally that a woman living here in Sacramento probably lived in the apartment next door to a terrorist cell.

This woman's neighboring apartment housed three young middle Eastern men who had no furniture, but a casual look into the front door of their apartment revealed stacks of papers, a few chairs and lots of duffle bags. They occupied this apartment for less than six months. Those three men left that apartment on September 11, 2001 have not been seen since. I forced the issue of this woman going to the FBI to make a statement when I found out the details. As it turns out, in one of Pat's reports, I discovered that FBI agents here in Sacramento used Egyptian Ali Mohammed as an informant from 1992 until 1996 while Ali Mohammed participated in AlQaeda operations around the world.

Michael Chertoff, President Bush's nominee for the next head of the Homeland Security agency was confirmed by a vote of the full Senate on February 15, 2005.

Chertoff is the replacement for Tom Ridge. Bush's first choice for head of Homeland Security, New York's former Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, was forced to withdraw when serious allegations were raised about his possible improprieties. If the facts presented in this report are seriously investigated and properly acted upon, Michael Chertoff should be immediately removed and face criminal charges. This could be another fiasco for Bush just as the nomination of Bernard Kerik proved to be.

Bush and Congress certainly should not have entrusted Chertoff with being the head of the Homeland Security Agency. Chertoff is a grave thread to the lives, welfare and freedoms of the American people.

Chertoff has had a rapid rise to power as an appointee of Presidents HW and GW Bush. First, as a U.S. attorney in New Jersey (1990-1994), then as assistant Attorney General at the DOJ criminal division heading up the investigation of 9-11 (2001-2003), and now, most recently as a federal judge in Philadelphia (March 2003 to present). Chertoff also helped write many of the controverisal portions of the PATRIOT Act and other new laws that even conservative Republicans believe are unecessary police state infringements of the Bill of Rights and Consititutional guarantees of US citizens. Chertoff also was consulted by the CIA about torture and renditions of terror suspects to other countries for torture.

This report presents a study of Michael Chertoff's role in the 1993 WTC bombing, the OKC bombing and the 9-11 terrorist attacks as well as Chertoff's coverup of FBI and DOJ foreknowledge and provocation of these attacks. The information in the report strongly implicates Chertoff in intentionally helping create and provoke these terrorist acts and terror funding in order to provide a pretext for much of the controversial police state provisions in laws which Chertoff has helped write. Chertoff's unethical and criminal roles and conduct revealed in this report raises grave concerns that Chertoff, as head of Homeland Security, would further attempt to impose a US police state and continue to use illegal, unconstitutional and immoral tactics against the America people. The Bohemian Club's membership includes many artists, particularly musicians, as well as many high-ranking business leaders, government officials (including some U.S. presidents), and senior media executives. As a measure of the club's exclusivity, it is reported the waiting list for membership is from 15 to 20 years, though through a fast track, three-year membership process is possible. Two current members must sponsor a prospective member. An initiation fee of $25,000 as of 2006 is required in addition to yearly membership dues. Elected members are also allowed to prorate the initiation fee into equal annual payments until they reach the age of 45.

After 40 years of membership the men earn "Old Guard" status, giving them reserved seating at the Grove's daily talks, as well as other perquisites. Members may also invite guests to the Grove although those guests are subject to a rigorous screening procedure. Guests come from across America and overseas. Californian guests are generally limited to attendance at the "Spring Jinks", in June, preceding the main July encampment.

The Grove motto is "Weaving Spiders Come Not Here", which implies that outside concerns and business deals are to be left outside. However, there is demonstrable evidence of political and business deals having been developed at the Grove. The Grove is particularly famous for a Manhattan Project planning meeting that took place there in September of 1942, which subsequently led to the atomic bomb. Those attending, apart from Ernest Lawrence and military officials, included the president of Harvard and representatives of Standard Oil and General Electric. Grove members take particular pride in this event and often relate the story to new attendees.[2]

Bohemian Grove was established over time, shortly after the founding of the Bohemian Club in 1872. For several years, the members of the Club camped together at various locations, including the present Muir Woods, Samuel P. Taylor State Park, and a separate redwood grove near Duncan Mills, down river from the current location. Regular July encampments similar to those held today began in 1899.

The first parcel of the grove was purchased from Melvin Cyrus Meeker who developed a successful logging operation in the area. Gradually over the next decades, members of the Club purchased land surrounding the original location to the perimeter of the basin in which it resides. This was done to secure the rights to the water, so that its water supply would not be affected by uphill operations.[citation needed]

Not long after the Club's establishment by newspaper journalists, it was commandeered by prominent San Francisco-based businessmen, who provided the financial resources necessary to acquire further land and facilities at the Grove. They still retained the "bohemians" however — the artists and musicians — who continued to entertain international members and guests.

The Grove itself consists of redwood trees over 1,500 years old. It is a spectacular nature preserve, untouched by logging, and containing many elevated walkways. This traditional "purity" underpins the Cremation of Care ceremony (see below).

The Bohemian Club is a private club; only active members of the Club (known as "Bohos") and their guests may visit the Grove. These guests have been known to include politicians and notable figures from countries outside the US. Particularly during the midsummer encampment, the number of guests is strictly limited due to the small size of the facilities and membership in the Bohemian Club does not necessarily confer the right to attend the annual encampment. Nevertheless, up to 2,900 members and guests have been reported as attending some of the annual encampments.

The primary activities taking place at the Grove are varied and expensive entertainment, such as an elaborate Grove Play (known as "High Jinx") and musical comedies ("Low Jinx") — where female roles are played by men in drag — produced by the members and associate members of the Club. Thus, the majority of common facilities are entertainment venues, interspersed among the giant redwoods.

There are also sleeping quarters, or "camps" scattered throughout the grove, of which it is reported there were a total of 118 as of 2007. These camps, which are frequently patrilineal, are the principal means through which high-level business and political contacts and friendships are formed. For senior corporate executives, the camps are said to be the pinnacle of socio-political networking in the US.

According to Joel van der Reijden (see External Links below for a full list of camps and substantive details on the past affiliations of the camps' members), the pre-eminent camps are:

Grove Stage — it is an amphitheatre with seating for 2,000 used primarily for the Grove Play production, on the last Friday of the midsummer encampment. The stage extends up the hill side, and is also home to the second largest outdoor pipe organ in the world.
Field Circle — a bowl-shaped amphitheatre used for the mid-weekend, "Low Jinx" musical comedy, as well as for variety shows.
Campfire Circle — has a campfire pit in the middle of the circle, surrounded by carved redwood log benches. Used for smaller shows in a more intimate setting.
Museum Stage — a semi-outdoor venue with a covered stage. Lectures and small ensembles shows.
Dining Circle — seating approximately 1500 diners simultaneously.
Club House — built in 1903, it is the site of the Manhattan Project planning meeting held in 1942 (see above).
The Owl Shrine and the Lake — an artificial lake in the middle of the grove, used for the noon-time concerts and also the venue of the Cremation of Care, that takes place on the first Saturday of the encampment. It is also the location of the daily (12.30pm) "Lakeside Talks." Professor G. William Domhoff (see below) states these significant informal talks (many on public policy issues) have been given over the years by entertainers, professors, astronauts, business leaders, cabinet officers, CIA directors, future presidents and former presidents; these have been the subject of ongoing controversy, as the transcripts of these talks are rarely released to the public (though have been known to be used for such mundane purposes as reading for the lecturer's graduate students).

Camp valets are responsible for the operation of the individual camps. The "head" valets are akin to a general manager's position at a resort, club, restaurant, or hotel.

[edit] Symbolism and rituals
Since the founding of the club, the Bohemian Grove's symbol has been an owl and a forty-foot concrete owl symbolizing knowledge stands at the head of the lake in the Grove and, since 1929, has served as the site of the yearly "Cremation of Care" ceremony (see below). The club's motto, Weaving Spiders Come Not Here, is taken from the second scene of Act 2 from A Midsummer Night's Dream; it signifies that the Grove is limited to exchanges about mutual concerns and is characterized by the term "the Bohemian Spirit."

The Club's patron saint is John of Nepomuk, who legend says suffered death at the hands of a Bohemian monarch rather than disclose the confessional secrets of the queen (this of course, is not historically accurate). In reality, John confirmed Archbishop John of Jenštejn's candidate for Abbot of Kladrau against the wishes of Wenceslaus, King of the Romans. John was thrown off the Charles Bridge at Prague on March 20, 1393. A large wood carving of St. John in cleric robes with his index finger over his lips stands at the shore of the lake in the Grove, symbolising the secrecy kept by the Grove's attendees throughout its long history.

[edit] Cremation of Care
The Cremation of Care was devised in 1893 by a member named Joseph D. Redding, a lawyer from New York. G.W. Domhoff, a sociologist, obtained access to the Bohemian Club's records and membership and was able to conduct extensive research about the organization and their activities. He was able to detail the Cremation of Care ceremony, along with the High and Low Jinx and other ceremonies and plays of the Club.

The ceremony involves the poling of a small boat across a lake containing an effigy of Care (called "Dull Care"). Dark, hooded individuals receive the effigy from the ferryman which is placed on an altar and at the end of the ceremony, is set on fire. This "Cremation of Care" symbolizes that within the Bohemian Grove members leave the care of the outside world.

The ceremony takes place next to a 45-foot (14 m) high concrete owl statue. During the ceremony, the voice of the former-newsman Walter Cronkite, a member of the Bohemian Club, is used as the voice of The Owl. Music and fireworks accompany the ritual, for dramatic effect.

The ritual was also performed in 1913 at the world famous "Red Rocks" Ampitheater, along with a ceremony entitled "The arrival of the goddess of prosperity".

Alex Jones infiltrated the Bohemian Grove in 2000 and filmed the final portion of the ceremony for his film Dark Secrets: Inside Bohemian Grove. The grove and Jones' investigation were also covered by Jon Ronson in Channel 4's four-part documentary, Secret Rulers of the World.

[edit] Protests and controversies
With the combination of secrecy, power, and an elite bias, the Bohemian Grove has been a target for protest for many years. Specifically, the Bohemian Grove Action Network organizes protests and has aided journalists who wish to penetrate the secrecy surrounding the encampment. Over the years, individuals have infiltrated the Grove then later published video and claimed accounts of the activities at Bohemian Grove.

On July 15, 2000, Austin, Texas-based journalist and filmmaker Alex Jones and his cameraman, Mike Hanson, became the first people [citation needed] to successfully infiltrate the Grove and make it out with documented evidence. With hidden cameras, Jones and Hanson were able to film the Cremation of Care ritual. The footage was the centerpiece of Jones' documentary, Dark Secrets: Inside Bohemian Grove. Jones states his opinion that this is an "ancient Canaanite, Luciferian, Babylon mystery religion ceremony" involving a 45 foot (14 m) statue of an owl which he named Moloch. (Ancient descriptions of Moloch suggest a bull not an owl).

A fellow British journalist, Jon Ronson of Channel 4, documented his view of the ritual in his book, Them: Adventures With Extremists. Ronson's interpretation of the ritual was more sanguine; he felt it was a startlingly immature and weird way for world leaders to behave on their summer vacation, but did not see evidence of covert Satanism. According to his description of the account it was nothing more than a fraternity-esque ritual, and the only reason one could see it as Satanic was if one was looking for Satanism in it to begin with.

Also filmed for The Order of Death was Jones' return to the entrance of the Bohemian Grove in 2005 where he filmed a protest organized by the Bohemian Grove Action Network that took place at the Grove's entrance on Bohemian Highway, only to discover a majority of the protestors engaging in an "occult counter-ritual", supposedly a counter-ritual against the "Cremation of Care".[2]

Actor/writer Harry Shearer (This is Spinal Tap, Saturday Night Live), who has attended at least one Bohemian Club event, wrote and directed The Teddy Bears' Picnic, a parody of the Bohemian Grove conspiracy.

Former Nebraska state Senator John DeCamp alleges in The Franklin Coverup that snuff films and child porn were produced at the Bohemian Grove.[3]

Molech doesn't look anything like an owl. The only thing I can find associated

Description Lilitu (possibly) — This is an image of a terracotta relief (alternately said to be "Sumerian" or "Assyrian") that has been optimistically identified with Lilitu, the first wife of Adam. The relief of a winged goddess-figure with eagle's feet, flanked by owls and perched upon supine lions is called the "Burney relief"; it is in the collection of Col. Norman Colville, England. The relief is illustrated at many websites with varying attributions of Mesopotamian culture and various dates. Peace in the Middle East and the resolution of property and tax disputes with the Roman Catholic Church will top the agenda of President Shimon Peres's September 6 meeting with Pope Benedict XVI.

On Friday, Vatican Radio announced the two will meet next month at Castel Gandalfo, the Pope's summer palace outside Rome.

Peres will travel to Italy on September 5 and will also meet with his counterpart, President Giorgio Napolitano and Prime Minister Romano Prodi.

While the trip will be Peres' first since assuming the Presidency, as foreign minister and prime minister the veteran politician has been a frequent guest of the Vatican. In April 2006, while out of public office, he had a private meeting with Pope Benedict to discuss the political situation in the region.

Benedict wrote Peres in July, congratulating him on his election and stating that he hoped his presidency would serve as a vehicle for peace.

In Nov 2005 Benedict met with then President Moshe Katsav in Rome and the Israeli leader extended a formal invitation to visit Israel.

Benedict responded positively, but no date has yet been set. A papal visit to Israel is understood to be contingent on the successful resolution of the long running legal dispute over the tax and property status of Catholic institutions in Israel.

The papal audience comes at the end of a summer of uneven Jewish-Catholic relations, and will take place three days after a meeting in Jerusalem of the joint Israeli-Vatican Bilateral Permanent Working Commission to resolve the property disputes.

Last month the Chief Rabbinate of Israel wrote Benedict asking for clarification on his July decision to permit wider use of the 1962 Latin 'Tridentine' rite, which includes Good Friday prayers for the "conversion of the Jews." Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone later told reporters the conversion prayer question was under study.

Jewish groups have also expressed concern over the Pope's August 5 meeting with Polish priest, Fr. Tadeusz Rydzyk, the director of Radio Maryja. The Council of Europe's Commission on Racism and Intolerance criticized the station in 2005, saying it had been "openly inciting to anti-Semitism for several years."

Polish newspapers reported Fr. Rydzyk had been permitted to kiss the Pope's ring during an August audience. In response to questions raised by Jewish groups, the Vatican issued a statement on August 9 saying the "kiss" did not "imply any change in the Holy See's well-known position on relations between Catholics and Jews."

However, Vatican and Israeli officials say relations have never been better. On August 16, Oded Ben-Hur, the Israeli ambassador to the Vatican, told the Catholic News Service "officially and institutionally, relations are constantly improving."

Pope Benedict XVI has ignited controversy across the world by approving a document saying non-Catholic Christian communities are either defective or not true churches, and the Roman Catholic Church provides the only true path to salvation.

"Christ 'established here on earth' only one church," said the document, reasserting the primacy of Catholicism.

It said other Christian communities such as Protestants "cannot be called 'churches' in the proper sense" since they don't have what's known as apostolic succession – that is, the ability to trace their bishops back to the original 12 apostles of Jesus.
