The S24 Anti-Imperialist Committee is calling for an anti-imperialist feeder march on September 24. The feeder march will start at 10:30 AM at Seattle Central Community College and meet A.N.S.W.E.R.'s rally at Westlake. The anti-imperialist contingent will also participate in the A.N.S.W.E.R. march from Westlake down to the Federal Building.

PLANNING MEETING

The final planning meeting before the march is scheduled for September 10 at 4:00 PM at the Capitol Hill Library (upstairs). The library is located at 425 Harvard Ave. E. (behind Broadway's new QFC, also known as the "Broadway Market").

Attached is a PDF file of a poster we made to publicize the march. People are encouraged to distribute this far and wide--on electrical poles, in workplaces, schools, cafes, etc.

For additional information, please see  http://struggle.net/s24/ or contact participants at  24aic@gmail.com

A significant portion of the August 14th meeting was deciding which slogans to organize around. Through friendly debate and struggle, unity was reached to use the following anti-imperialist slogans:

U.S. imperialism out of Iraq!
No to war for oil, military bases, and world domination!
Oppose Democratic Party hijacking of the anti-war movement!
For mass action independent of the bourgeoisie and its allies!
The Iraqi people have the right to resist!
Support the revolutionary-democratic struggles of the Iraqi workers and poor!

Editors, thank you for posting a somewhat revised version of my original article to the center column.

However, you did make one little error. The committee's email address is  s24aic@gmail.com, NOT  24aic@gmail.com

Report on the September 10th planning meeting
Posted by: Alex at Sep 15, 2005 21:35

Report on the Sept 10th planning meeting for an anti-imperialist contingent march on September 24th.

This report is coming a few days late (and will be pretty short) due to the press of other issues, such as building for the actual march on September 24th. The meeting was a success, with several new people in attendance, having seen postings on indymedia, or flyers on Broadway. Because of the number of people at the meeting who had not participated in the previous meetings, we spent a significant amount of time talking about background, decisions which had been made previously, and getting a sense of where participants were coming from. There was pretty strong unity around the slogans (listed in the original post above), and the need to oppose the Democrats’ support for the war. Because of the need to cover these questions, we were limited on time for other decisions, but we discussed the route we planned to take, selected two speakers, and divided up postering to build for the march. One person had been putting up posters at Edmunds CC already, others volunteered to poster in various neighborhoods around town. Already at least a few hundred posters have gone up around town, and people on the streets who have seen posters being put up appear to be aware of this anti-imperialist contingent march, and say they are planning to attend.

So Where Was It?

So I didn't see any march as you claimed to be organizing. I saw thousands of people at the ANSWER march. I heard a great progressive rally with some genuine anti-imperialist messages. I heard a pro-Palestinian speaker.

What did you clowns contribute? How many people did you bring out?

Retire fools!

To "Bob"--if you're so interested in anti-imperialist messages then perhaps you should have lifted a finger to help organize the Anti-Imperialist Contingent. That is just one suggestion. It's possible you've helped advance anti-imperialist politics in another way (and there are many other ways) but the tone of your post suggests otherwise.

To everyone else who may have been confused by "Bob"'s rant--the S-24 Anti-Imperialist Committee just published a summation statement which was posted to Seattle IMC:
