The entire West Coast is planning protests in honor of George Bush's weeklong visit. San Diego, kicks off the "Just say no to Dick and Bush Tour" on Aug 14th, while Portland gets into the act on August 21st. Seattle activists are planning a welcoming committee on Friday, August 22nd. Although complete details of his trip have not been made public, media reports indicate that he will be at a fundraising luncheon in Bellevue on the 22nd. He may also be visiting a salmon hatchery on that same day.

The events are expected to draw a wide range of citizens who are upset over the Bush Administration’s war against Iraq, environmental policies, attitudes towards gays, slashing of social programs, curtailing of civil liberties, and many other issues you won't hear about on TV.

Rallies are planned at numerous locations around the Northwest, both Friday and Saturday. Activists have called for decentralized direct action by affinity groups on Friday in Bellevue; or group mobilization using new organizing methods such as "SmartMobs."
